In the spirit of gratitude, peace and appreciation, I acknowledge that Calgary, Alberta, is the home of the traditional lands of the Treaty 7 First Nations of the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Tsuut’ina, and the three Stoney Nations that comprise the Chiniki, Goodstoney and Bearspaw. I also acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis Nations, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
Our First Nations peoples and their ancestral Elders have delineated generations of stewardship and sacred cultural relationships as guardians of Mother Earth and of all our relations. Their wisdom has enabled us all to enjoy the many blessings of our bountiful country. Their efforts have also strived to ensure our children’s children can partake of Creator’s beauty.
Through compassionate works of reciprocity may we heal the wounds of the past. In the spirit of fellowship may we foster among us peace and balance through acts of love, respect, bravery, truth, honesty, humility, and wisdom. May we recognise the Creator in all peoples and in every living thing.
